Lions clubs can become involved by recruiting hearing care professionals and covering whatever costs the recipient can not afford. The Lions affordable hearing aids are available to all Lions hearing programs. To qualify for participation, Lions hearing programs are required to income-qualify recipients to ensure that low-income people receive the hearing aids. Guidelines are available from LCIF.
Currently Lions AHAP is distributing two hearing aids manufactured by Rexton, Inc. in cooperation with participating Lions and hearing care professionals. LCIF’s partnership with Rexton allows Lions clubs, districts and hearing programs to order one or both aids from Lions AHAP. After clearing all criteria, Lions AHAP forwards the order to Rexton. Rexton ships the hearing aids to the hearing care professional who have relationships working with these Lions entities.
The Rexton aids are available through both existing and new Lions hearing programs. Existing programs are defined as those already providing hearing aids in partnership with hearing care professionals and have the process in place for identifying eligible recipients. New Lions hearing programs are those interested in distributing the two Rexton aids, but do not have an existing structure in place.
Lions AHAP will assist Lions clubs and districts wishing to begin distributing the aid. Contact Lions AHAP at LCIF for more information or to get involved in the program.
