There are many ways in which Lions support people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Lions Hearing Aid Recycling Program
Lions collect used hearing aids and send them to regional Lions Hearing Aid Recycling Centers for refurbishing and distribution to persons in need.

Lions Recreational Camps
Lions support camps that are customized to meet the needs of children and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing.

(US) Lions Affordable Hearing Aid Program (AHAP)
Through AHAP, a project of LCIF, Lions provide high-quality, low-cost hearing aids to people of limited income. For more information, send an e-mail to: LionsAHAP@lionsclubs.org

In addition, Lions can:

  • Support a Lions hearing foundation.
  • Support hearing dog schools that provide assistance dogs trained to aid deaf persons.
  • Participate in Deaf Awareness Week.
  • Provide sign-language interpreters for persons who are deaf and need assistance during meetings with lawyers or doctors.
  • Provide financial assistance for the purchase of technological devices to aid hearing impaired persons with limited income.
  • Volunteer at the Deaf Olympics.
  • Work with local government and private agencies to identify and provide needed services to persons who are deaf and hard of hearing.
  • Arrange seminars and workshops to provide educational resources and information about communicating with those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
