The most critical time for a new club is its first years. Therefore, district governors are encouraged to appoint two guiding Lions or certified guiding Lions to:
- Guide the new club through its first years of operation.
- Orient new club officers.
- Motivate and support the new club.
- Retain members.
Guiding Lions assist new clubs for one year. Following their tenure, Guiding Lions are eligible to receive the Guiding Lion Patch and Guiding Lion Pin. Submit the Guiding Lion Evaluation of New Club Form (pdf).
Certified guiding Lions receive their designation upon completion of the Certified Guiding Lion Program training. Certified guiding Lions assist new clubs for two years.
Certified Guiding Lion Program
Lions have the opportunity to participate in the Certified Guiding Lion Program to receive training in new club support. The course may be taken individually or be facilitated by an instructor. The Certified Guiding Lion Instructor Guide (pdf) and Certified Guiding Lion Program Power Point Presentation (ppt) may be downloaded to assist facilitators in group instruction.
Following the course, Lions submit the Certified Guiding Lion Review (pdf), with the district governor’s approval, to receive a special achievement certificate. To receive the Certified Guiding Lion Award Medal, certified guiding Lions complete seven Certified Guiding Lion Quarterly Reports throughout their term, followed by the Certified Guiding Lion Final Report Form. Submit reports to the New Clubs and Marketing Department.
