The center not only processes used eyeglasses; it also has the capability of manufacturing new ones - maximum 1000 pairs per year. MEDICO receive most of its recycled spectacles from France, England, Greece and Slovenia.  MEDICO provides recycled spectacles for distribution by doctors and humanitarian groups.  A French Lions club is always involved as an intermediary.

In the past, MEDICO has provided spectacles to Cambodia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Madagascar, Romania, Tajikistan, Zambia, Gambia, Lebanon, Sri Lanka and most recently to Brazil, countries in western and central Africa: Cameroon, Ghana, Niger and Burkina Faso.  Plans for the future include distributions to Cameroon, Morocco and possibly Lubumbashi.
